I run an independent publishing company which produces audio guides for people who love art and history. We have recently changed our business strategy, and future releases will be in digital download format only. Our titles will no longer be published on CD.

As a means of quickly reducing our stock of CDs, I would like to offer free copies of our five titles to Public Libraries. I don’t have experience or contacts in the public library community, and I am in need of advice. For starters, is this a feasible idea?

Obviously, we’d like to find the most cost-effective way to publicize and implement the program. What would be the best way to structure the program? What would be the best way to publicize the program? Would asking libraries to pay the mailing cost be a big deterrent to participation? Is there an ALA (or other library-targeted) publication or other mechanism that might publicize the program for free?

Any and all help I can get with this will be hugely appreciated. Jane

Did you find a way to distribute materials?

Just curious. Smile
